Winning their second game in Germany, Brazil has now secured a place in the round of 16th. Adriano scored early in the second half to give his team the lead and late substitute Fred netted the insurance goal just 3 minutes before the game’s end.
The Australians battled hard for the contest’s duration but failed to convert any of their chances partly due to an excellent performance by the South American goalkeeper. One could argue that their efforts deserved at least a point out of this match. Luckily for them, group rivals Japan and Croatia played to a draw earlier in the day giving the Australians the advantage for the second qualifying spot.
Once again, Brazil looked shaky and unimaginative with its biggest stars, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, having another dull game. In fact, Ronaldo looked even worse when Robinho who replaced him on the 72nd minute performed superbly terrorizing the Aussie defense. At the end of the day, this group, surely, does not look like a true contender for the title especially if one considers that they have yet to play against a quality site.
