I have to admit that Manchester United’s Portuguese start Cristiano Ronaldo is one of my least favorite soccer start playing today. My dislike of him is mostly his attitude towards the game emphasizing his desire to try and cheat as much as possible. He has also overused the step-over move; I mean, dude get a new trick or something. At any rate, he recently scored a nice goal against Portsmouth from a free kick several meters outside the 18-yard box. The free kick essentially stunned Portsmouth’s goalkeeper who was unable to react as the ball rested in the top left corner of his net. Watch the free kick in the video below.

Cristiano was offered today a huge extension to his contract with Manchester United until 2013. He will be making a stagering 140,000 pounds a week The striker has netted 27 goals in 28 games for his team this year and he is expected to break George Best’s record of 33 goals in one season. He might be annoying but he gets the job done and they know that at Manchester. I wonder if he will also be able to help the Portuguese national team this summer during the upcoming Euro 2008 competition. Four years ago, he saw his team lose the title at home to the outsider Greece. I’m certain that he is hungry for revenge and hopefully he will show that on the pitch.
