It is always sad when a promising and talented soccer player is seriously injured. It is even worse when the injury could have easily been avoided. Case in point, Eduardo da Silva’s broken leg injury that resulted from a sloppy tackle by Birmingham defender Martin Taylor a week ago. Arsenal’s young striker suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle as a result of the anti-athletic tackle by Taylor.

According to the doctors who took care of Eduardo, the Croatian international could have lost his leg had they not operated immediately. Many credit Gunners physiotherapist Gary Lewin for his actions to save Eduardo’s foot. The Arsenal striker is now facing several difficult months of hard physio work before he can come back to play. Doctors say that it will be a good 9 months before he can suit up for Arsenal again. Unfortunately for Eduardo, he will be missing the Euro competition this summer (he plays for the Croatian national team.)

The video below shows Eduardo da Silva’s injury from Martin Taylor’s tackle in the third minute of the Birmingham versus Arsenal game.
