Will Milan Bounce Back With Kaka’s Return?
Filed Under Champions League, Euro 2008, Players | Leave a Comment
AC Milan must be very happy after hearing the news that Brazilian midfielder Kaka, will be able to play in Saturday’s game against Cagliari. Kaka suffered from a knee injury during the past month and is finally ready to suit up once more. He trained today after a full recovery from the injury. Coach Carlo Ancelotti and AC Milan really needed this, as the team has been struggling without the midfielder’s offensive abilities. The Rossoneri are currently sixth in the Series A standings and four points behind the last Champions League qualifying spot.
The team isn’t used to this kind of struggle and things have gotten so bad that they were booed by fans at last weekend’s game. Some have even called for the replacement of the famed coach, but club president Silvio Berlusconi crushed those thoughts when he said, “’You only change a coach to make an improvement, who could Milan get who is better than Carlo? Carlo is the best choice and he will stay.” Now this could just be something Berlusconi said to quell the public, but if it isn’t his support of the coach certainly makes sense. Sure the team is in a gray area right now, but it must be remembered that it was the same coach who led them to victories in both the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in the past year. Coach Ancelotti certainly has what it takes; he might just be in a bit of a slump.
As for what the fans think: that’s another story. Soccer fans are some of the most passionate on the planet and even the slightest of errors by their teams poses anger. There are seven games remaining in the season and for AC Milan it is now or never. They need to start winning immediately, not only to get higher in the standings, but also to win back the support of their fans.
