The rumors on what the future holds for soccer superstar Ronaldinho have no end. The Brazilian striker has had a terrible season with Barcelona and the club is not very happy with him. Plagued by a few injuries, a bit of extra weight, and rumors of his continuous partying have taken a toll on the star who was not his former self on the soccer pitch. His season with Barcelona ended early after being diagnosed with a leg injury a day ago; doctors said that he will be sidelined for 6 weeks, essentially missing the rest of the Spanish Primera Liga’s season and the Champions League games that remain including the final if his team makes it all the way.
I think at this time, everyone agrees that Ronaldinho’s term with the Catalan club is over. The question that remains to be answered is where will he play next? How many teams can really afford the 28-year old forward?
Rumors are that he might go to London club Chelsea; owner Roman Abramovich can easily afford him. Another recent rumor has Ronaldinho following on the footsteps of another Brazilian superstar, Ronaldo, who took his game to Italy and more specifically AC Milan. The Italian team can definitely use a player of Ronaldinho’s caliber. Another rumor had Ronaldinho crossing the Atlantic ocean to play in the MLS; this would be a move similar to that of English soccer star David Beckham who left Real Madrid to play for the LA Galaxy. I think Ronaldinho can still play a few years for a real team in Europe so unless the only thing he cares about is money, he is not likely to leave for the New World.
The next few weeks should be interesting as the future of the Brazilian soccer star is decided. Hopefully, his injuries will heal and he will soon regain his old form keeping us glued on the TV watching his magical moves as he blasts past hapless defenders and scores magnificent goals embarrassing goalkeepers.
