Chelsea and Liverpool played the second leg match of their semi-final battle against Liverpool yesterday, and with a pretty wide open affair the blue prevailed. Going into the game I was skeptical about who would win this match but clearly Chelsea was either more prepared or just came more ready to play. Frank Lampard had a lot to play for as his mother just passed away last week. He ended up netting a penalty shot well into the second half of the match. Only big play gamers can manage to come back from a family crisis like Lampard did and score an important goal to ensure his team moved onto the finals.
When the finals begin it will be Chelsea against Manchester United and although Chelsea beat Man U not long ago, I don’t think they will be able to win the championship. Manchester United has a lot more depth on their line-up and the loss that Manchester suffered against Chelsea will only fuel Manchester to play better and come more prepared. I think Chelsea would have a better chance coming into the game without have winning the previous match between the two teams. Although same say it was the confidence they needed I think it just fueled the anger behind Manchester.
The all English affair will be tense and heart wrenching but Manchester should prevail as champions this year. Ronaldo alone is enough to be a deciding factor without even mentioning Tevez. Chelsea has a lot of work in store for them and need to prepare very well for the coming match, which happens to be the most important match of the season for either team. If Chelsea were to upset Manchester in the finals Lampard will need to be the deciding factor on both sides of the field.
