Hellas Online cup showdown

Olympiakos and Aris are the two clubs competing for the Hellas Online cup this Saturday May 17, 2008. The two clubs played each other for the same cup 3 years ago with Olympiakos winning the cup outscoring the opposition by 3 goals. The two teams want to win the cup for different reasons.
It was 38 years ago when Aris brought the cup home (played against rival Thessaloniki club PAOK in 1970) and the entire team is determined to repeat this feat once more tomorrow. Aris coach Ducan Bajevic who in the past coached Olympiakos and is currently rumored to be heading for rival Athens club Panathinaikos said that his team will play for its history. Interestingly, Bajevic was coaching Olympiakos 3 years ago when the same two teams also competed for the cup with Olympiakos going home with the trophy.
Olympiakos, on the other hand, is determined to win tomorrow and complete the double bringing home the silverware for both the Superleague champioship and the Hellas Online cup. Other prominent Greek soccer clubs, most notably AEK Athens, have doubted Olympiakos’ championship title and as such the entire team wants to prove that they deserve to be the dominant Greek team as they have done consistently for the last 10 years.
Everyone expects this to be a spirited affair both on the off the pitch. Local police is taking extreme measures to prevent clashes between the fans of the two teams. Hopefully, the game will be exciting with little controversy preventing extreme actions from the soccer fans.
