Wayne Rooney’s huge wedding to Coleen McLoughlin

England didn’t manage to qualify for the European Championship held in Austria-Switzerland as I write this, but that doesn’t mean that Manchester United star Wayne Rooney doesn’t have his hands full. You see, the young striker is making final preparations for his wedding with Coleen McLoughlin. The pair is going to wed in what, on first site, appears a small ceremony with only 64 guests invited. But is is not going to be cheap.
The couple is prepared to spend as much as 5 million pounds! So much money to cater for only 64 people? Apparently, this entire affair is going to take place at the Italian Santa Margherita’s cliff-top palace known as Villa Durazzo. The views from the palace are apparently unbelievable and the overall service exquisite (not that there is any chance in the world that I could ever afford to spend there even a single night!)
Certain media reports, that a luxury yacht will be the starting venue for the wedding celebrations while the same boat will be available to all guests for the duration of their stay at Villa Durazzo so they can sail the Mediterranean sea as they please. Considering the amount of money the couple is spending on the wedding, they have asked their guests not to bring gifts (what kind of gift would you bring to such wealthy people anyways?) but instead donate to a charitable cause and more specifically a children’s hospital. It probably would have been best if Rooney and McLoughlin had only spend a fraction of their 6 million on a simple wedding and had donated the rest of the money to a charity themselves but who am I to judge the wealthy and powerful?
Let’s see if marriage will be good for the young star. Soccer players tend to lose their competitive edge once they marry I wonder why!
