Euro 2008 Germany vs. Turkey Preview
The excitement is growing as Germany and Turkey get set to square off in tomorrow’s semi-final match. The fans have begun their preparation as well, and the atmosphere is very lively. The game has sparked a lot of vivacity in the two countries, but the situation in Germany is especially intriguing. The country has a large population of people of Turkish origin, roughly 2.7 million. Some of these fans are rooting for Germany, while others root for Turkey and some don’t really care.
It will be interesting to see how the populace reacts as the match goes final tomorrow night. Officials expect the rivalry to stir up the nation, but they predict no violent uproars. Just as a precaution actions are being taken to promote a peaceful celebration of the game, no matter what the outcome.
The game will certainly be an interesting one as Cinderella-storied Turkey plays a German team which many called the favorites. The odds are highly in favor of Germany though, especially due to the injury-burdened Turkey roster. It will take a very strong and surprising effort from some of Turkey’s bench players if they hope to pull through to the finals. But, the players say they are ready as do their counterparts on the other side. Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann summed up the intense emotions which many players are currently feeling; when he said he would give him life to reach the Euro 2008 finals. It is obviously a hyperbole, but it definitely captures the intensity and passion of the players.
