This has been a prolific week for Greek soccer club Olympiakos who signed two new players to strengthen their midfield. First and most important, Brazilian international Dudu (or Alexandro Silva de Souza which is his actual name) has completed his move from CSKA Moscow to Olympiakos for an estimated price of 6 million Euro. The 25-year old midfield player will be paid 1.5 million Euro every year as part of a 3-year contract. Upon arrival in Athens, Dudu expressed his desire to help his new team win more local championships (Olympiakos is dominating the Greek Superleague having won the title 11 times in the last 12 years) and do well in the Champions League. At the same time, he looks forward to playing and winning against his teammate on Brazil’s national team Gilberto Silva who signed with rival club Panathinaikos a few weeks ago. This was certainly something the Olympiakos supporters wanted to hear! See Dudu in action in the video below.

In the meantime, Liverpool’s 21-year old Sebastian Leto has also arrived in Athens to join Olympiakos for 2 years on loan from the English club. Leto was not able to obtain a working visa to play in England and as a result he had to move to another club. Olympiakos was the fortunate team to add Leto to the roster bolstering their midfield line with young and experienced players. This should make new coach Ernesto Valverde very happy although his team still needs at least one capable striker. Having this many young midfield players means that some of the older players will see their playing times reduced. Cristian Ledesma who underperformed last year and also had a rather loud argument with his new coach a couple of weeks ago may be on his way back to Argentina. In the meantime, team captain Predrag ?or?evi? who is likely to retire at the end of this season will probably see reduced playing time if Leto manages to earn Valverde’s trust over the nest few months.
