Manchester United was upset by Zenit St. Petersburg in the Super Cup final on Friday. Pavel Pogrebniak and Miguel Danny put the team up by 2 by the 59th minute and that would be enough for the win. Manchester United was only able to score once, which was by Nemanja Vidic during the 73rd minute.

United’s attack was lacking and questions are beginning to arise on whether or not they have enough to win in bigger games as they try to win the Premier League title once more. Christiano Ronaldo is currently injured and the effect can easily be seen. Zenit on the other hand seemed very strong and worked very well as a unit.

Zenit manager Dick Advocaat is receiving more praise as he continues the tremendous turnaround of the team. He has done such a good job that he has literally made them “winners” instead of the mediocre team they were before. Sir Alex Ferguson joined most people in praising his counterpart today as well. Hopes are high for Zenit after a UEFA Cup and a domestic title last season. At this point it looks like the team will be able to live up to the expectations as they continue to be solid. This season may even be better than last, as they now know that they can do it and hence, their confidence is higher.
