If you thought the biggest transfer saga of the last two years was dead and buried, think again. Christiano Ronaldo might have gotten his long-awaited dream move to Real Madrid last summer, but that hasn’t stopped him from yearning for the impossible again—namely, a return to his “family” Manchester United.

He told newspaper News of the World: “I am still interested in watching Manchester United and, you never know, maybe in the future I could return to play there. It’s always possible. I want to fulfill my contract here but, in the future, only God knows.”

He followed that up with talk of happiness at Real and how he wanted to honor his contract, which some people may remember is pretty much the same thing he said while he was still at Manchester. Now, while it is doubtful we’ll see him return in the next one or two years, one thing has been proven safe to bet on—Christiano Ronaldo gets what he wants. He hasn’t missed a beat for Real this season and has banged in the goals that have kept them breathing down Barcelona’s necks, and has pretty much earned the right to dictate where he plays.

Would the Old Trafford fateful welcome him back with open arms? More likely yes, especially if he keeps praising them in interviews as he does now. Only thing is he might very well have to finance his own move, as United’s spending powers have pretty much dried up with their American owner’s debts.
