The transfer rumors of the past season have focused on a number of players in particular, and one subject of much speculation has been Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. There has been a lot written about the 26 year-old Moroccan star, linking him to various big clubs around Europe, most notably Arsenal in the Premiership.

Some, however, may not be aware of what the fuss is all about. This is what the video is here to explain. It is a compilation of clips from Bordo’s 2-1 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League, with Chamakh scoring the winning goal to qualify his side for an all-French quarter final clash with Lyon. It is not just the goal that is noteworthy, however, but pretty much everything that he does. When you look at his movement both on and off the ball, his passing, creativity and vision, you wonder why this player isn’t a bigger star already.

Admittedly, his goalscoring record at Bordo isn’t as amazing as you’d expect, as he only has 55 goals from a total of 219 appearances. He has scored some big goals for his country, however, notably in the 2004 African Cup of nations in Morocco’s quarter-final victory over arch-rivals Algeria. Since Morocco haven’t been able to qualify for much else in recent years, he hasn’t really gotten the chance to shine so much at this level.

If the transfer were to happen, though, you’d think Chamakh would fit perfectly into Arsene Wenger’s free-flowing football side at Arsenal.
